Suspending Otto, Cygnet and Denny at WA Museum
CADDS Group was engaged by Cetacea Contracting (specialists who create skeleton exhibits) to design, fabricate and certified a steel armature and suspension arrangement for Otto, the blue whale in Hackett Hall in the new WA museum. Otto is suspended in a lunge-feeding pose which had never been done before and involved the dynamic set of twists and turns within the skeleton seen on display today.
CADDS Group received models of all the individual bones and utilised cutting-edge software and technologies to fully model each skeleton support armature. Each skeleton armature was designed with extra precision to make sure no damage is done to the bones. This process allowed for a collaborative review between designers and engineers before going into production.
